Ghost Grab 3000 v0.12

I decided to try adding Mac and Linux builds. These are untested, so if you use either of those OSes, please let me know how you get on with the game.

This build adds a bunch of smaller tweaks and bug fixes, but doesn't bring a whole lot of exciting new features this time! 

I did, however, add systems under-the-hood to support more languages at launch. This is still very much a work-in-progress!! But I wanted to get the architecture in place to plug in translations when they're ready. I recommend sticking with English for now.

The next update will be more substantial: I'll be redoing the background art and adding a bunch of new ghosts, and revising the way the ghost spawning system works.



Changes:

  • Implemented localisation system and Language select menu.
  • Renamed "Levels" to "Waves" and renamed "Stages" to "Levels".
  • Energy gauge is now dynamically resized based on your Battery Mod capacity.
  • Energy gauge is segmented to show how much energy you need to use your Grapple Beam attack.
  • Energy gauge has a new texture which changes when you don't have enough energy for a Grapple Beam attack.
  • Battery pickups are now more rare, but give you 20 energy (enough for a Grapple Beam attack with the default Battery Mod).
  • Revised the Game Over screen layout.
  • Added a link to the Robot Shop on the Game Over screen.
  • The wave you reached is now displayed with your final score, along with the furthest wave you've reached.
  • The name of a locked level is no longer displayed when highlighting a higher locked level.
  • Score pop-ups now display "Score x Multiplier" instead of the total.
  • Increased the rate your sprite flashes when you're invincible.
  • Optimised collision checks against the player.
  • Added Mac and Linux support.

Bug fixes:

  • Multiplier is no longer reset to 0 when you reach a new wave, causing you to get 0 points if you pop a chain during that time.
  • Player now correctly flashes while invincible when you reach a new wave (you were always invincible, but no one knew it!)
  • You can no longer clip inside an enemy while invincible or while they're stunned, then remain safe when the effect wears off.
